The Honorable Dr. David Sergeenko

Minister of Labor, Health, and Social Affairs

Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs

0119 s. Ak. Ave. 144

Tbilisi, Georgia

Dear Mr. Minister:

I hope this letter finds you well.  Thank you for agreeing to participate in the next meeting of the International Task Force for Disease Eradication (ITFDE) here in Atlanta on June 20.  The meeting will begin promptly at 8:30am following a continental breakfast at 8:00am, and end at ~5:00pm.

At this meeting, we will discuss “Is It Time to Eliminate Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C as Global Health Threats?”  We are allocating about an hour for your presentation, “Progress toward Hepatitis C Elimination in the Country of Georgia” and discussion.  Your presentation would include 2-3 useful recommendations that the ITFDE might consider and discuss.  Also before the meeting you should submit a written summary, similar to the World Health Organization’s Weekly Epidemiological Record, that includes two paragraphs for the main body (objective) and one paragraph for the Editorial Comment section.  A summary of this meeting will be published in the Weekly Epidemiological Record

Attached in addition to the reports regarding hepatitis from the previous Task Force’s consideration of these diseases are the criteria we used in making that judgment as well as a provisional agenda and a list of Task Force members.  Additional information, including summaries of previous ITFDE meetings, is available on the Carter Center website: www.cartercenter.org.

The Carter Center will cover your round-trip airfare (business class), hotel, meals, and miscellaneous local travel expenses (up to $86 per day).  Please complete the attached registration form and forward it to Ms. Shandal Sullivan via fax (404) 874-5515, or email shandal.sullivan@cartercenter.org, to confirm your participation no later than April 7.

I am looking forward hopefully to seeing you in June.

Sincerely,

Stephen Blount, M.D.
