Subject: RE: List of focal points
Dear Sopo,
Please, be informed that in principle WHO only maintains the list of 12 WHO national technical focal points (see below), additionally to the WHO National Counterpart for strategic Collaboration.
Dr Nino Berdzuli
Deputy Minister
Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs
WHO national technical focal points
1. Communicable diseases
2. Noncommunicable diseases
3. Mental health
4. Violence and injury prevention
5. Promoting health throughout the life-course
6. Equity and social determinants of health
7. Health and the environment
8. Health systems
9. Subnational policies: regions and cities
10. Preparedness, surveillance and response
11. Leadership and governance, strategic planning, resource coordination and reporting
12. Strategic communications
Usually a formal request is sent to the member state at the beginning of the biennium to nominate the 12 technical focal points. I can’t remember such list has been delivered to WHO in the past, and there is no such information on the web (as it is for many other member states; http://www.euro.who.int/en/countries).
WHO does not provide any incentives to the technical focal points for their collaboration with the WHO. They (simply) represent the member state at different meetings and they are contacted to provide respective country specific data and information, when applicable.
Attached you can find a list of national experts that we usually contact for different technical issues. Please, keep in mind that this is our working list and not a formal list of national technical focal points.
What we would appreciate is to have formal list of 12 national focal points as per the above listed technical areas.
You may also update the attached table, but this extended list can serve for our internal purposes, while formally we will publish the list of the national technical focal points on our web page.
Thank you and best regards,
