Jamie Cooper, President and Chair of Big Win Philanthropy announced support including Education Ministers in Program
Education Ministers will be included in the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program, then Acting Dean of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, David Hunter announced this past June. With the support of Big Win Philanthropy and the Harvard Graduate School of Education the program will now support education ministers, as well as ministers of health and finance, starting in 2017. Since inception, 94 ministers from 53 countries representing a total of 1.83 billion people have participated in the Program. READ MORE>>
Muhammad Yunus addressed the 2016 Harvard Health Leaders' Ministerial Forum
Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus called on health ministers at the fifth annual Ministerial Forum for Health Ministers at Harvard to think of health as an integral part of economic development and to recognize productive work by women and young people as a critical factor in advancing national health and economic growth in their nations. Making health a priority could foster opportunities for collaboration with other government ministries and produce a coordinated approach to human development and economic growth, he said. READ MORE>>

Former Education Ministers, experts, and Harvard faculty met this past August to develop a curriculum for the 2017 cohort of Education Ministers
A group of former education ministers from Africa and Latin America, as well as experts from the World Bank and UNICEF met at Harvard in late August for a consultation with faculty on how to adapt the Ministerial Program’s curriculum to the needs of education ministers. “Our challenge” said Program Executive Director, Michael Sinclair, “is to build on the success of the existing Program while addressing the specific challenges of an education minister, as well as key education policy and financing issues. Ministers appreciate the practical focus of the curriculum we have developed over the past five years and our plan is to maintain that approach.” READ MORE>>
Health ministers who have participated in the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program report enduring benefits from the Program including an increased sense of self-confidence and purpose, and success in leveraging health system strengthening including increased budget. In a recent sample survey of and face-to-face focus groups with 16 health ministers as part of the multi-year, donor funded and directed external evaluation of the Program found that ministers attributed their success initiating systemic reforms and capturing increased budget to the skills and tools acquired as part of the Harvard Ministerial Program:
