Subject: funding available to support HCV treatment decentralization
Dear Dr Maia, Dear Dr Amiran,
We have received some good news. Through the US Dept of Defense, European Command Assistance Coordination Office, CDC Country Office submitted a proposal for funding to support the purchase small equipments necessary for decentralization
of HCV treatment to primary health care and harm reduction centers. We have received news that the proposal was accepted and includes up to 100,000 USD. The next step is to refine the equipment list and specifications and the number of sites to be equipped
by region. The CDC Foundation team will begin working with MoH and NCDC to gather this information. Information is due back to the Assistance Coordination Office by next week. The timeline for funds availability is expected to be Jan-Feb 2019. The exact
mechanism for executing the funding is not decided but will be either through a USG contracting office or through direct funding to MoH. This is really good news for decentralization, and also represents a new partnership with another branch of the US Govt
to further support HCV elimination in Georgia. Please just let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.
Best regards
Beth
