2. FDA broadens emergency use authorization of Remdesivir after positive results in Moderate COVID-19 patients after 5 day course compared to standard of care published in JAMA. The new authorization recommends Remdesivir to be included as treatment for all hospitalized adult and paediatric patients with suspected or laboratory-confirmed COVID-19, Irrespective of their severity of disease. This new authorization broadens the patient profile for COVIFOR and reiterates the need for a treatment option with faster recovery considering the rapid rise in new cases.

I hope you are already informed about the urgent inquiry from the Government of Georgia regarding the procurement of Remdesivir from HETERO Labs Ltd.

Georgia, similar to other countries, is facing significant challenges related to COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, the Government of Georgia is taking all necessary measures to efficiently respond to the outbreak and prevent the dramatic spread of the diseases.

Due to the deterioration of the epidemiological situation, the Government of Georgia is committed of using all current opportunities, including engagement in the study of Remdesivir for the treatment of the patients with the severe acute respiratory syndrome of COVID-19 to avoid fatal outcomes in the infected patients as far as possible.

In this regard,  Georgia is urgently looking forward to procurer generic form of Remdesivir, initially sufficient for 500 eligible patients. We kindly request you to positively consider the mentioned matter and provide with the product price as well as terms and conditions of delivery as early as possible.
