Subject: Invitation to "First do no harm": A WHA72 event on Wednesday 22nd May

Honourable delegates to the 72nd World Health Assembly,

On behalf of the delegations of Eswatini, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Tanzania and Zambia, supported by WaterAid and WHO, I would like to encourage you to attend the Member State Side Event taking place on Wednesday 22nd May, 6pm-7.30pm in Salle XIII of the Palais, “First do no harm”: why water, sanitation and hygiene must be a priority for quality health care, protecting patient safety and tackling AMR.

This event is intended to support your discussions of three interconnected agenda items – Patient Safety, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in Health Care Facilities, and tackling Antimicrobial Resistance. The event will discuss why the proposed resolution on WASH in Health Care Facilities is important for accelerating efforts in pursuit of UHC. The event will include reflections from Ministers of Health from across regions, personal experience from the frontline of healthcare, the role of non-state actors, and insights from WHO’s new senior leadership team.

We do hope you can participate. Please contact MaisieRoseByrne@wateraid.org with any questions.
