Dear Sopo,

It would be great if we could get the names of responsible officers (as per the email below), as soon as possible, as the technical unit would like to receive the Georgia specific data/answers by my September already.

Thank you and best regards,

Subject: Medicines pricing and reimbursement system in Georgia

Dear Mrs. Belkania,

My name is Guillaume Dedet and I work at the WHO regional office for Europe in the Division of Health Systems and Public Health. I am a technical officer and I follow the issues related to medicines financing policies for the region.

I am writing to you following a discussion with Mr. Marijan Ivanusa, WHO representative in Georgia.

Since 2017, as part of WHO’s commitment to strengthening health systems in the region, my division has developed and launched a network of competent authorities in charge of medicines pricing and reimbursement policies for the countries of the Former Soviet Union. The objective of this network is for national authorities representatives to get some exposure to best practices and also share experiences on this topic.

The first meeting of this network was held in Chisinau in June 2017 and the second one in Baku in May 2018. Thanks to the support of the authorities we have been able to welcome participants from Georgia to these two events:

-          Mrs. Ekaterine Adamia (Head of Public Healthcare and Programs Division of Healthcare Department) and Mr. David Japaridze (Head of Permits Division Department of Pharmaceutical Activities at the LEPL State Regulation Agency for Medical Activities) for the first meeting;

-          And Mrs. Cicino Kobakhidze (Chief Specialist of Registration Division at the Pharmaceutical Activities Department of the LEPL State Regulations Agency for Medical Activities) during the second one.

As part of the work of this network we are currently preparing a specific report describing and comparing the various medicines financing systems in the region. We collected information via a template/questionnaire that participants to the meeting were asked to fill and that we discussed with them directly during the event in Baku. For various reasons we never had the chance to have this document filled by participants from Georgia. We were wondering if it were possible for you and your team to have a look at the questionnaire and identify one or two experts who could maybe try to fill it in? The document is in Russian and English (attached) and can be filled in any of the two languages, as per your preference. I also attached the glossary of the terms used in the template so to avoid any misinterpretation of certain technical terms.

We thought important to try to be as exhaustive as possible and, as a consequence, information on Georgia would be tremendously enhancing the scope and solidity of our findings.

Many thanks in advance for your help and please feel free to reach me anytime should you need some clarification. We would very much appreciate getting the input of Georgia by the 16th of September.

Best regards,

Guillaume
