Subject: Strategic considerations for deployment of COVID-19 vaccine and vaccination

Dear WR/HCOs,

Greetings from Copenhagen.

As we have discussed on Friday during the IMST call, please find attached the “Strategic Considerations for deployment of COVID-19 vaccines and vaccination” which has been shared with the national immunization programme managers today.

This document outlines the key strategic considerations for ministries of health, their agencies, national immunization technical advisory groups/committees and relevant public and private sector authorities in the WHO European Region in preparing for deployment of COVID-19 vaccine and vaccination in their countries. The objective is to allow Member States to identify and address any critical gaps for effective deployment of COVID-19 vaccines.

As new scientific evidence and information related to COVID-19 vaccines become available, a detailed operational guidance and related tools for vaccination and deployment of COVID vaccines in countries will follow (by mid-November 2020). This will be linked to the guidance and recommendations from the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on immunization.

Glad if this can be shared from your end with relevant colleagues in the Ministry of Health.

Thanks,

Siddhartha

Subject: Strategic considerations for deployment of COVID-19 vaccine and vaccination;

Dear Colleagues,

As our Member States move forward with the decision making on COVID-19 vaccination, it is critical that we have the strategic programmatic considerations for deployment of COVID-19 vaccine and vaccination. Please find attached the document for your reference.

This document has been developed by the WHO Regional Office for Europe Working Group on COVID-19 Vaccination in collaboration which engages a broad group of stakeholders under the overall technical oversight of the European Technical Advisory group of Experts on Immunization.

We trust this will be useful for your programme planning and please share this with relevant programme colleagues in your country.

Thanks,

Siddhartha

Siddhartha
