Subject: WHO missions

Dear Sopo, dear colleagues at the ministry,

The following weeks will be extremely busy with several missions and other ongoing work. Additionally I also will be absent due to the two duty travels (22-29 Nov; 6-14 Dec); and leave after 22 December.

Attached please find the updated list of planned technical missions to Georgia for the remaining weeks in 2018.

We urgently need your confirmation of the following two missions that has been provisionally discussed but not finally confirmed:

6 Dec

7 Dec

Pharmaceuticals: Law on Medicines

Olexandr Polishchuk, WHO

John Lisman, consultant

Technical meetings with legal experts to revise the draft Law on Medicines

10 Dec

11 Dec

Health system strengthening:

UHC/SSA

Triin Habicht

Andres Rannamae

Strategic purchasing strategy and SSA structure (terms of reference to be cleared by the ministry)

1.       Now we have the confirmation that Olexandr Polishchuk and John Lisman can come and work two days with a small team of experts that drafted the Law on medicines. This is very technical work. The mission coincides with the mission on DRG, but the involved experts are different. The team would need a small meeting room at the ministry. If needed, they could in principle also work in our office, or we secure premises somewhere else.

We need your clearance that the mission can come and that the national experts will be available (I don’t know, how many people have been involved in drafting the law, but I assume this was very small group of most probably up to max 4 people). Initial briefing and final debriefing could be done with senior officials, if you find appropriate (incl. Marina Darakhvelidze as well as deputy minister or minister, but this is up to the ministry to decide).

We need the decision to be able to arrange travel (2 weeks before travel, which means we have to work on it tomorrow, and latest on Wednesday).

2.       Mission on Strategic Purchasing has been provisionally agreed last week, but we need final confirmation to arrange travel. Triin starts her travel already on 5 Dec to be here with Kristiina (mission on DRG), so we need to define her travel tomorrow or latest on Wednesday. As they indicated, Triin and Andres are only available during that time frame.  They cannot come later in December.

It is important that you confirm the dates at this stage. Other details can be agreed in the following days.

Best regards,
