Subject: law on medicines

Dear Marina,

As agreed, John Lisman and Olexandr Polischuk will come to Georgia to discuss review of the Law on Medicines with experts of the ministry (authors, lawyers). The mission is scheduled for 6-7 December. Both experts are available for two full days, as they will arrive on 5 Dec and depart on 8 Dec.

As discussed initially, this is very technical mission and we expect the discussions to take place in a small group.

We will also secure consecutive interpretation (GE-EN).

Additionally please be informed that I have discussed with Olexandr possible dates of the next mission focused on the Law on Medicines. It looks like that most probable dates are 19-20 Feb 2019. During the second mission an initial meeting with the representatives of the ministry could be followed by a meeting/workshop with the stakeholders in the area of medicines (i.e. ministry, SSA, industry (producers, distributers, pharmacies), health care providers, NGOs/patients, members of parliament etc.). Still we believe it should rather be meeting with the limited number of participants (i.e. 25-30). We plan to bring up to 5 experts in total.

Details can also be discussed with Olexandr in person, when he is in Tbilisi in December. Please, check the dates and think about other details of the second mission.

If needed we can discuss this even prior to the mission in December, as I will not be in Georgia on 6-7 December.

Our intention is to help the ministry to submit good draft law for the Parliamentary procedure and to contribute to the smooth process in the parliament and to secure broad support to the law.

Please, let us know, what would be most helpful for the ministry.

Best regards,
