On behalf of the Global Village and Youth Programme, we would like to extend a warm invitation for you to participate in the 22nd International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2018) Global Village and Youth Programme, which will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 23 – 27 July 2018.

Within AIDS 2018, the Global Village provides a diverse and vibrant space where communities from all over the world gather to meet, share, and learn from each other. It intersects the main conference programme, blending scientific sessions with cultural activities, live performances, film screenings, networking zones, NGO booths, marketplace booths, and art exhibits. Here, conference participants are invited to see how science translates into community action and intervention. Indeed, more than 300 activities will take place in the Global Village, all of which are free to the public and open to everyone.

This year we have an exciting Session which has been planned by the local Amsterdam Youth Force, entitled ‘HeForShe Townhall: what are your leaders doing for women’s rights?’, for which they would be delighted to collaborate with you. The objective of the HeForShe Townhall will be to make visible the disproportionate rates at which women and girls are affected by HIV and AIDS and to discuss the root causes of this. Politicians and policy makers will be questioned on several topics including: HIV and health, violence, economy, women's leadership, young women and girls, education for young women, menstrual health, gender discrimination, and the gender pay gap.
