Dear Tamar,

I didn’t want to disturb you on the below long in advance, as I knew how busy you are and how volatile the situation is. But I’ll have to send now an answer to our WHO Office in Almaty, as they have to put together the agenda of the event and circulate it.

Any possibility for you to act as keynote speaker, with a 10 minutes presentation on dual track PHC response during COVID19?

It will be on 27 October.

If not possible, we’ll fully understand.

Looking forward to your answer,

With best regards,

Silviu

Dear Allison,

You are well aware on situation in GEO and our communication on possible presenter from GEO on PHC and COVID (below)

Any chances get First Deputy Minster Mrs Gabunia as a presenter from Georgia for the virtual  conference 27 October?

For the keynote session we have already confirmed two Minsters – from KAZ and LTU. Melitta third keynote. Would be great to have Mrs Gabunia also for kenote. She well aware about PHC  and could  deliver excellent 10 minutes presentation on lessons learned from Georgia. Also pending confirmation of viceminister presentation from UZB.

For other sessions we already  have confirmed presentations from TJK, MDA, RUS, UKR, AZE, pending from 1-2 more.

Thanks

Best regards

Arnoldas

Subject: Kazakhstan conference on dual track PHC response

Dear Silviu, Dear Allison,

Kazakhstan is organizing a sub-regional multi-country virtual conference onthe role of PHC role in the dual track response to the pandemic.  The event will take place on 27 October and its organization is led by the National PHC Association and Karaganda University The virtual conference will be combined with direct participation of representatives of KAZ MOH,  regional health administrations and PHC facility managers.

Objective of the event is to share experience and lessons learned from countries of post-Semashko system in adapting PHC services to the dual track response to COVID. The event will start with a special congratulatory session for the 90th birthday of former minister Sharmanov who led the Almaty Global Conference and PHC declaration in 1978. RD video address is planned for this session.

We in the WHO European Centre for PHC in Almaty support the organization of this conference  - the topic is fully aligned with our thinking on the role of PHC during COVID and the potential to exchange among post-Semashko countries is really great and needed.

We have offered to the organizers to identify international experiences and speakers from our national counterparts from East European and Central Asia countries on how PHC services were adapted during the pandemic, and what lessons can be learned for better response in the future. We will be participating with our entire team including w a keynote presentation.

Is there someone who you would recommend inviting as a speaker from your country a for a 10-15 minutes virtual presentation on challenges, opportunities and lessons learned in  PHC service response to the COVID19, and in maintenance delivery of essential services. We are not only interested in adjustments to the service delivery model but also to health system enablers (governance, financing, IT systems, education).

The organizers themselves will send invitation to the respective Ministries once the program has taken shape. Arnoldas is the focal point from our team.

Warmest, Melitta
