Dear Ms Sopo Belkania,
Please, be informed that for the final step of the election of Dr David Sergeenko, Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs, to the Executive Board, certain activities still needs to be done.
Georgian authorities (either Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs OR Ministry of Foreign Affairs OR Permanent mission in Geneva shall prepare and sign the letter confirming the candidature.
The example is attached. We kindly ask you to prepare the final draft of the letter, and send it to us just for review before signing it; so everything is in accordance with the rules. Once this is confirmed, it should be signed, but the stated date should be 22 May.
Ideally the signed pdf is delivered to us by email. The original shall be also delivered to the WHO. This could be done in person during the SCRC meeting in Geneva, 20-21 May 2017, if Prof Amiran Gamkrelidze will attend it, he could perhaps personally deliver the letter.
The Georgian delegation must be present on the first day of the World Health Assembly (22 May) as well as on the day of elections (most probably on 26 May). The minister does not have to be present in person on this two days.
Preferably the minister should be present for the first session of the EB after the elections (1-2 June), as most probably the newly elected WHO Director General will also attend that session.
Please, let us know, if you need any further instructions at this stage.
Best regards,
Marijan Ivanuša
