Subject: WHO baseline assessment: violence against women

Dear Dr Nino Berdzuli,

In May 2016, the 69th session of the World Health Assembly adopted the “Global plan of action to strengthen the role of the health system within a national multisectoral response to address interpersonal violence, in particular against women and girls and against children”. In September 2016, the recommendations of the plan of action were endorsed by 66th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe through the Strategy on women's health and well-being in the WHO European Region and the Action plan for sexual and reproductive health in Europe.

In order to help countries track the implementation of the violence against women and girls component of the Global Plan of Action, WHO is making a survey to gather baseline data on the indicators included in the Global Plan of Action. The survey also serves to gather additional information to allow for an in-depth analysis of country health policies and protocols to address violence against women. The results of the survey will be reported back to the World Health Assembly and the Regional Committee for Europe, as part of the progress reports under the different resolution. A specific report mapping the situation in the European Region will also be published.

The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete and is available in both English and Russian. Please access the survey using your language of choice through one of the links below.

The deadline for completing the survey is 25 January 2018.

For any questions relating to completing this survey, please contact Ms Åsa Nihlén on nihlena@who.int
