Dear GHSA Colleagues,

 

As the Chair of the GHSA Steering Group, Italy wishes to thank you for your support and partnership, as we work to advance shared global health security goals.

 

In accordance with the Kampala Declaration issued at the 2017 Ministerial Meeting in Uganda, the Steering Group’s GHSA Post-2018 Subgroup is undertaking a consultative process to develop a proposal for the next phase of GHSA. Since October 2017, the GHSA Post-2018 Subgroup has worked to draw together the range of inputs and ideas shared by the GHSA community, including through the November 2017 questionnaire and Steering Group meeting discussions.

 

On request of the Subgroup coordinator, we attach for your consideration the first draft of the “GHSA 2024 Framework,” an outline of the overarching goals and central elements of an enhanced GHSA approach that builds on the successes and lessons learnt from the first five years of GHSA. Over the coming months, the Subgroup will also develop more detailed documents (e.g., Terms of Reference) to complement this overarching framework. The Steering Group will also share these with the broader GHSA community in the months to follow. An overview of the GHSA 2024 development process is copied below.

 

As GHSA partners, please take time over the next three weeks to review this proposed framework and share your thoughts and any questions with the Subgroup (ghsaPost2018@gmail.com) by Wednesday 28 March.

 

By the end of this week, we will also post a new page on the GHSA website (www.GHSAgenda.org/ghsa2024) on GHSA 2024 development. Please check this website, as this will include details about the GHSA 2024 development process, as well as upcoming GHSA-wide virtual Town Hall consultations the weeks of 19 and 26 March. Please consider joining these meetings to hear updates from the Subgroup and raise questions and interests you may have.

May:                      SG Meeting – Finalize GHSA 2024 Framework

Summer:             Share Finalized GHSA 2024 Framework and TORs GHSA-wide; identify new leadership

Fall:                        Present GHSA 2024 Framework at the GHSA Ministerial

Nov-Dec:             Transition to GHSA 2024 structure and objectives
