Dear Mr Vincent Rey,
Let me use this opportunity and thanks again to the EU and to you personally for your support to the WHO’s technical assistance to Georgia in the area of Universal Health Coverage.
Since second half of 2017 Georgia has been benefiting from the WHO-EU-LUX UHC Partnership (UHCP). The Partnership enables the WHO Regional Office for Europe to scale up its support to Georgia as the Government of Georgia seeks to move towards universal health coverage (UHC): ensuring all people can use the quality health services they need without experiencing financial hardship.
Attached please find the Action plan for 2018. This action plan builds on the first six months’ experiences of the UHCP in Georgia. After discussion with the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs (MOLHSA), key areas of work have been reduced from five to three to assure a stronger focus on the ministry’s priorities:
1 Preparing a strategy for strategic purchasing and providing support to increase the SSA’s capacity to implement the strategy
2 Supporting DRG implementation and providing support to strengthen strategic purchasing
3 Designing best practice patient pathways for selected priority clinical areas and developing tools to support their implementation
We hope for your continuous support in 2018 and beyond and that the position of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia is shared also with Dr Matthias Reinicke (Matthias.REINICKE@ec.europa.eu), as it was shared in 2017.
Please, do not hesitate to contact our office in case you need any further information.
Thank you and best regards,
Marijan Ivanusa
