Subject: Seeking your interest in participating in a social protection - inequality expert group meeting in Santiago, June 2018
Dear Nino,
I hope this email finds you well. If you recall, we met here at ESCAP, during the Strategic Dialogue on Social Protection, which took place in Bangkok last November 2018.
I am now writing because the project under which the meeting was organized is concluding in June and there will be an interregional closing meeting in Santiago, Chile, mid to end of June 2018, to discuss policies for reducing inequality
from across the world. The meeting is entitled: “Inter-regional Expert Group Meeting “Placing equality at the centre of Agenda 2030”. “
ESCAP may be able to sponsor 1-2 policymakers from the Asia-Pacific region, who have a good grasp of social protection policies in their countries and also an understanding of inequality measurement and trends, to join us at the meeting.
We thought that you would make an excellent participant and presenter, given your rich experience from Georgia. Not much is confirmed yet and we do not even have the exact dates of the meeting, but we wanted to informally alert to you to the possibility of
being an ESCAP-sponsored participant for that event. As per the current draft programme, you would be expected to “present country experiences and lessons learned in the conceptualization, design and implementation of public policies and programmes oriented
towards greater equality” under Session 3.
Looking forward to your initial thoughts and will be in touch again as soon as we have more news on the dates and detailed programme.
We truly hope that you will be interested in this opportunity to join us for this meeting in Chile.
Kind regards,
Ermina
