Dear Irma,

Thank you very much for all the work your team is putting into the preparations for this visit and for sharing these excellent suggestions/issues for discussion with us.

Unfortunately, despite the beautiful weather in Geneva, I have managed to catch  a flu and have had to stay home today. I will do my best to be in the office tomorrow though and I will get in touch to schedule a call asap. Do you have a day off tomorrow for 1 May or is it a working day?

Thanks again for all your support. Much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Gyongyi

Subject: RE: Visit of German MPs to Georgia

Dear Gyiongyi,

We are working on agenda details, have already received confirmation from the Minister of health and deputy minter, from the head of the health committee of the parliament of Georgia, we are waiting for suggestions from the ministry of Corrections, definitely, our partners, SR’s are ready to take part in the preparation.

Also, we have a couple of suggestions:

The first meeting at NCDC - Dr. Amiran’s suggestion is to arrange it at the Lugar Center conference hall that is part of new NCDC office and located next to the airport. The more so that NCDC, specifically the Lugar Center implements projects supported by the German government. We will keep all suggested topics for that meeting. After the meeting the guests will be invited to dinner by NCDC (it may be arranged to transfer them to the hotel first, up to their choice).

The Minister is willing to meet the delegation, however, May 31 is Thursday – a usual Government (cabinet of ministers’ meeting day), therefore, most likely, he will not be available until afternoon. So there are actually two options, to shift meeting with Minister and MoLHSA staff to afternoon; or shift a meeting with Minister to June 1st, and keep the meeting with deputy minister as scheduled.

Meeting at the national Center for TB and Lung Diseases may be arranged any time on May 31. This will also include a new outpatient facility built with GF support. We also suggest to visit AIDS center at the same day and to move a meeting with Prof. Kazachkin to 1 June, as requested by his office.

Chairman of the Health and Social Issues Committee, Parliament of Georgia also asked to shift the meeting for June 1st, as he is in Kutaisi on May 31, for hearings.

So for June 1st we suggest visit to prison (which should be done before the noon), then meeting at the Parliament,  continued by lunch and then site visits to CBOs (PWID,   including women); after some time slot (Meeting with M. Kazachkin, dinner )we suggest in the evening observe outreach activities. A site visit outside of Tbilisi (closest one is in Gori, travel from Tbilisi- an hour + ) seems to be very tough to manage in terms of time (will take 3 - 4 hours)

We suggest to discuss further details in early next week at any convenient time for you.

I look forward for your feedback.

Kind regards,

Irma

Dear Gyongyi,

As per your E-mail, I would like to clarify the following:

I have contacted several Hotels that matches the 4 Star, City Center description as follows:

Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel - http://www.booking.com/Share-jTzdqo

Courtyard by Marriott Tbilisi -  http://www.booking.com/Share-5wYbiC

Tbilisi Marriott Hotel - http://www.booking.com/Share-cbXkv3

I’m waiting for their price quotation which we should receive by Monday.

For transportation I have also communicated with couple of transfer service companies, and also, I’m waiting for their offer. Roughly, the daily rate should not exceed around €150 a day.

Also, I would like to clarify, on which language would they like to have a translator, English or German?

We will update you as soon as we have additional details

Kind regards,

Subject: Visit of German MPs to Georgia

Dear Irma,

I hope all is well in Georgia and you are enjoying the start of spring, as much as we do here in Geneva (finally!).

I am writing to you regarding the planned visit of the German parliamentarians to Georgia, which is starting to crystallise, and to ask for your help with planning the agenda for the mission. The details are as follows:

·         As we have been informed, the group is planning to arrive on 30 May mid-afternoon around 4pm and leave Tbilisi around noon/early afternoon on 2 June.

·         Below is a rough outline of what has been requested for the visit. Please let us know your thoughts on the plan and if there are any additional elements of the programs that you would recommend to show-case, please feel free to suggest. Also please let us know if there are any partner agencies, including GIZ/KfW, who you think would be good to visit. Please note that the timings below are just indicative so that we have an idea of what is realistic to cover in two days. You are welcome to arrange the order of meetings as per availabilities, including what is visited in Tbilisi and outside. I would be most grateful if you could revert with a proposed agenda by next Friday, 27 April.

·         The delegation will consist of up to 10 persons. Please see further details below.

·         Friends of Europe will cover the costs of airport transfer and in-country transport, accommodation, translation, and potentially one of the dinners. It would be very helpful if you could provide some recommendations for a hotel (4-star, in the center), transport company, and translator. It would also be appreciated if you could revert with the expected costs for each, as the budget for the trip needs to go through their internal approval system. Your response on this item by tomorrow COB or latest Monday would be very much appreciated.

I cc. Anne-Laure Aubertin, our Resource Mobilisation Officer from the External Relations Department, who is the focal point for this visit, as well as Viktoriya who can provide additional support from our end.

Once we finalise the details for the MPs’ visit, I suggest we also plan the Country Team visit for the Country Dialogue, as we expect to have a very busy period towards the end of May.

Thank you once again for your willingness to host this visit and for all your support in making the necessary arrangements. We look forward to working with you on

Wishing you all the best,

Gyongyi
