Dear Sopo,
Attached is the updated list of planned missions to Georgia.
1. The mission on rabies is very technical; our country office and Maia Mateshvili work on the details. At the moment it looks like preparations are progressing well; we will let you know if your engagement is needed.
2. Rusiko will be in touch with Mariana regarding the missions on UHC (SSA, DRG).
3. The visit of Vera da Costa (Head of the Convention Secretariat WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control) is taking place on 27-28 February.
For this visit we would appreciate if Vera da Costa could meet the minister on Tuesday, 27 Feb (before noon) and if minister could come for the launching events (or other high level representative represents the ministry):
- Launch of the FCTC 2030 project and Investment Case for Tobacco Control in Georgia (NCDC, Tuesday, 27 Feb afternoon)
- Launch of the Smoke Free Communication Campaign (Parliament, Wednesday, 28 Feb afternoon)
Draft programme is attached, but this is initial draft and changes are still possible.
We also plan a dinner for Tuesday evening; more details will follow.
Kakha will be in touch with you with/for further details.
4. As indicated in Geneva, the minister would like to discuss pharmaceuticals/GMP. Our technical officer is available this Monday and Tuesday. By my opinion it would be best if technical experts at the ministry have a look at the delivered Strategy for the Implementation of GMP/GDP in Georgia and provide their opinion to the minister prior to the teleconference. They should also be informed about the training that can be delivered by the Danish training center.
If needed I can also meet the minister in person.
At the moment we are intensively working with possible donor, to secure some funding for the GMP, but at this stage it is too early to give any commitments. I should be able to provide some answers latest in mid-February, after I return from Copenhagen.
Please, be also informed that there will be no meeting on UHC in Morocco in March 2018.
Further on we are checking funding possibilities for GEO delegation attending the conference in Sitges, Spain.
Finally we need the information if minister would take part at any of the scheduled visits of the WHO Country Offices (Turkey, 5-7 April 2018; Kirgizstan, 3-4 May 2018).
Thank you and best regards,
Marijan Ivanusa
