Subject: Invitation: Georgia Policy Dialogue on Immunization – May 7, 2018

Dear Hon. Minister Sergeenko:

It is with great pleasure that the Sabin Vaccine Institute (Sabin) formally invites you to participate in an upcoming policy dialogue, Routine immunization coverage and regulations: best interventions for Georgia to be held on 7 May 2018 at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia.

In March 2017, during the Regional Legislative Workshop on Immunization, representatives from the Georgian government along with other national immunization stakeholders declared their readiness to initiate institutional changes in the system and carry out effective evidence-based interventions. To support these efforts, in partnership with Gavi, Sabin is generating evidence through targeted interviews and focus groups with national immunization stakeholders focused on identifying specific changes to both immunization policy and practice. This policy dialogue represents the conclusion of this work and provides a chance to share results, discuss priorities and together chart a path forward to improve routine immunization coverage in Georgia.

Given your expertise, your participation in this important dialogue will be critical to the discussion and ensure that the ideas generated by Georgian stakeholders result in tangible action. The goal of the dialogue is to develop clear priorities and action steps that can be taken to improve the policy and regulatory framework for immunization and also generate the political commitment needed to make these ideas a reality. Together we can make a lasting impact on the health of Georgia’s citizens by improving routine immunization and preventing the suffering caused by vaccine preventable diseases.

In addition, I would like to formally request time for an individual meeting with you on May 8th, while I am still in Tbilisi so that we can discuss some of the issues identified during the policy dialogue. If this agreeable to you, Eka can follow up with your staff to finalize the details of this meeting.

Attached is a concept note with some more detail on the dialogue and the research that will inform it. My staff is happy to answer any questions and will be circulating a detailed agenda and research findings ahead of the policy dialogue. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to Eka or myself (amy.finan@sabin.org) if we can be of assistance or answer additional questions.

We are grateful for your collaboration and I look forward to meeting you in Georgia.

Sincerely,

Amy Finan
