Dear Sopo,

Please be informed that Georgia (together with some other member states) may receive an invitation to nominate participants for a training course to improve the quality of causes of death data. The invitation will be sent from the Bloomberg Data 4 Health Initiative and the University of Melbourne (with Professor Alan Lopez in the driving seat). They are running this course in June in Bangkok.

WHO managed to negotiate the participation of 8-9 Member States from European region and among other countries Georgia will be invited. We are very happy that they will do so as they are introducing very useful tools and more importantly, are fully funding the participation of 2 persons from Georgia.

For certain administrative reasons the invitations will not be sent via WHO and our regular protocol will not be followed.

Despite this is not a WHO training, we collaborate closely with the organizers.

We feel that the course is a very good opportunity for Georgia in particular as quality of causes of death data shall be improved. For the above reasons we encourage you to nominate the participants once the ministry receives the respective letter.

Best regards,
