Greetings, colleagues. I am pleased to announce that Abt recently signed a contract with Medtronic Philanthropy as the Global Implementation Partner on an exciting new initiative to expand access to care for underserved populations living with diabetes and cardiovascular disease. This five-year $14.5 million effort will involve local demonstration projects, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy in four target countries: India, United States, South Africa, and Brazil.
This new initiative marks a number of firsts for Abt: our first global non-communicable diseases (NCD) project; our first contract with Medtronic Philanthropy, a private sector leader in addressing the global NCD crisis; our first collaboration with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), the Global Evaluation Partner; and the first USH-IHD joint project that we have won from a proposal that we partnered on from the start.
The unique nature of this proposal effort and start-up required the contributions of a large number of colleagues throughout the company and I would like to thank all of these individuals for their hard work:
· IHD: Elizabeth MacGregor-Skinner, Margarita Fernandez, Kate Greene, Lee Paulson, Dasha Migunov, Christina Juan, Ricky Merino, Ted Hammett, Abigail Donner, Ananya Price, Ram Ganesan, George Oommen, Arunesh Singh, Nancy Brown, and Francoise Armand
· USH: Chanza Baytop, Pat Shifflett, Debbie Walker, Caitlin Murphy and Jessica DeBakey
· Contracts: Lisa Ashcraft, Krista Pages, Anna Rose, Toni Sandoval and Miyanda Hanson
· GBDU: Pat Poulton and Jonathan Angerer
Please join me in acknowledging this team and congratulations to IHD and USH on this win!
Best,
Jay
