Dear Colleagues,
In May 2013, the Abt Global Intranet (AGI) was introduced, connecting Abt employees around the globe to a new technology platform that allows us to share, find, and leverage a key company asset: knowledge. We are pleased to report that Abt employees working in more than 40 countries are now connected at one click of the button. For the first time in Abt’s 49 years of work, we have global access to an interactive intranet, moving us closer to realizing One Global Abt.
This huge accomplishment moves us out of the initial phase of AGI conception, design, development and access to one that focuses on expanding mobile use connectivity, providing the highest level of data security, and building in features for collaborative work.
Strategic Direction/What’s Next
Widespread adoption of and improvements to AGI are a long-term process. To move us forward, Laura McCarty recently re-joined Abt as Director of AGI and Knowledge Sharing. Reporting to Mark Spranca, Laura will oversee a cross-functional team of division and department staff tasked with designing, implementing, and promoting new and better ways of using AGI.
We also hired Rama Sagna as Technology Change Management Leader to assist with training and adoption, focusing on our international project sites.
Our first pilot workspaces were launched in July, and we will continue to phase-in more workspaces and trainings on a monthly basis. As we roll-out more features in the coming weeks and months, AGI’s success will depend on all staff being engaged in storing, sharing, and leveraging information and contributing to the dialogue on AGI, through Today I Learned, Communities, blogs and workspaces.
Support and Change Requests
Questions, suggestions and requests for content changes, technical support and glitches in the system – yes, there will be some – should be directed to the IT Service Center, via email at ITSC@abtassoc.com or x 4357 (HELP). Your request will be acknowledged, prioritized and processed. Please recognize that changes may take time to incorporate and must be consistent with the vision and goals of AGI.
We’ve come a long way in the past year and look forward to making AGI a secure global platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing. We welcome your feedback and know that the more we work together, the more valuable AGI will become.
Thank you,
