Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Abt Associates is opening a U.K. office to better serve clients in the region, including the U.K. Department for International Development (DFID).
We made this strategic decision so that we would have a presence in London closer to key clients, thus enabling us to more effectively partner with them and better meet their needs.
Our current work with DFID includes the Partnership for Transforming Health Systems Phase II (PATHS2) program in Nigeria, the Scaling Up Family Planning effort in Zambia, and the food security initiative, AgResults Evaluation, which works in Nigeria, Kenya and Zambia.
Abt will host a series of panel discussions under the theme “New Directions—A Knowledge Series on Global Development” in order to engage with the U.K. development community. The first in this series, on how the private sector can support universal health coverage goals, will take place February 27. Speakers include: Julia Watson, Senior Health Economist, DFID/UK; Tosin Awosika, Health Care International HMO/Nigeria; Ramakrishnan Ganesan, Chief of Party, Abt Associates/India and Caroline Quijada, SHOPS project/HANSHEP Health Enterprise Fund, Abt Associates/US. Catherine Connor, Health Finance and Governance Project, Abt Associates/US, will moderate the discussion.
Kari Smith, Principal Associate and Director, Abt Associates Great Britain, is located in London and will represent the Company there. Much like opening our Atlanta office helped us to win more work with the CDC, I am confident that our presence in London will help us to become a stronger partner to DFID and British implementing organizations and, most importantly, enable us to further our mission of improving the quality of life and economic well-being of people worldwide.
