Dear Colleagues,
It is my pleasure to announce another global priority bid win.
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has awarded Abt JTA the contract to manage the Specialist Health Services (SHS), a program that provides technical health advice and management services to support DFAT’s global health portfolio. As a Global Priority Bid, SHS is a significant win. The program allows Abt JTA to provide strategic advisory services directly to one of the biggest development clients in the Asia Pacific region.
SHS addresses DFAT’s need for health expertise through contributing to all aspects of the aid management cycle, including research, concept development, technical appraisals, and policy advice, as well as program design, implementation and review. The program will achieve this through identifying and recruiting internationally renowned health experts to work with DFAT to address their most complex development challenges. It will also support strengthening the knowledge and skills of DFAT staff implementing health programs across the world.
Initial funding for this work covers Service Order 1 which is the base management fee valued at US $3.4M. This obligation only covers the initial 3 year term for contract management and does not include funding for additional service orders for activities and or the two possible contract extension periods.
Abt JTA secured the SHS despite an incumbent contractor managing the previous program and strong competition from a wide array of tenderers. The bid was a collaboration between Abt JTA and Abt Associates, and is the second bid to successfully leverage Abt JTA’s regional and client knowledge and the global capacity and technical prestige of Abt Associates.
Congratulations to the SHS proposal team for securing this global priority bid, including Dr. Jane Thomason, Jacqui De Lacy and Scott Roantree (bid leads), Kristin Cullison (proposal manager), and Leonie Kneeves (financial proposal manager). A warm thank you is also sent to our nominated team, all Abt and Abt JTA personnel who supported this proposal and to the team of technical experts whose commitment to excellence and global impact has made this result possible.
Best,
Jay
