Abt Library: Introducing Improvements to Resources & Services

Over the past several months, the Abt Library has been working with a cross-company Library Advisory Committee to improve its offerings and services.  We’ll be following up this email with more information about each of these improvements over the next few weeks.

Here are some improvements we’ve recently made:

•                    Easy to Use Library Home Page:  We have redesigned the Abt Library homepage on AGI to improve usability.  Use the “Start Your Search Here” search bar to try the new search platform.

•                    More Powerful Search: From the “Start Your Search Here” box on the main library page, you can automatically search all of Abt's journals, and databases, while also searching the indexes of over 100 other database collections.

•                    Added Document Delivery Service:  To access the full text of journals and books we don’t subscribe or have access to, the library has added the document delivery service, Reprints Desk. This offers easy self-service access to order articles.  Articles are typically delivered within 1-2 hours of the request.  *Charge Codes are required for this service*

•                    Expanded Collection of Resources:  Based on suggestions by staff, we have added subscriptions to new journals and newspapers, as well as many new books over the past few months. We hope the new resources will improve your experience with Abt Library.

•                    Helpful Tutorials and Guides:  To make it easier to master the new web site and search functionalities, newly updated tutorials and guides have been added to the home page. 

We hope you are pleased about the updates to the Abt Library, and with your help, we can continue to improve it!  Keep us updated on suggestions you have for the library. 

The Abt Library is accessible from any page on AGI via the Tools & Resources tab on the top navigation and is listed under “Libraries.” You can also add the Abt Library page to your Quick Links on AGI. 

In the coming months, we will be offering training opportunities on the new search and content resources. We hope you will participate in some of these trainings.
