The Office of Reputational Capital and Technical Leadership is pleased to announce that Anna Belova was recently appointed a Co-Chair of JASG/the Journal Author Support Group and a member of the D&D Steering Committee.  She brings a deep understanding of environmental policy analysis to those groups.

Anna is an Associate in ERD, specializing in data science and quantitative modeling with applications to a range of environmental policy design and evaluation.  In the past four years, Anna and her Abt collaborators have received six D&D grants, three of which have already resulted in peer reviewed publications in Environmental Health, Crop Protection, Environmental Science and Technology ,and  International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, These papers consider issues in environmental justice screening of human bio-monitoring data and meta-analysis of pesticide effectiveness.  Jointly with external collaborators, Anna published on urinary cadmium trends, employment impacts of environmental regulations, and methodological improvements of experiments in natural language processing. Anna holds a PhD in Economics from Clark University.

JASG/Journal Author Support Group is Abt’s internal seminar.  It meets Monday-Thursday, 2-3:30 simultaneously in Bethesda, Cambridge, Durham, and over the web.  The seminar is open for those preparing written products, for presentation dry runs, and for “Design Seminars” to discuss plans for analyses.  Those interested in being put on the announcement list or in making a presentation should contact Kathryn Niforos.

The D&D program is Abt’s twice a year internal competition to fund the writing of refereed journal articles.  The competition is open to all Abt staff with rank Associate and below.  The application can be found here as well as the Bidder’s Conference presentation.  The next round of applications is due in early August 2015.

Thanks,

Mark
