Announcing Thierry van Bastelaer's appointment as DDVP- Technical for IHD

Dear colleagues,
I am happy to share that Thierry van Bastelaer is the new DDVP- Technical for IHD. Thierry joined Abt in May 2010 to help develop IHD’s private health finance portfolio, and to strengthen programs that leverage private financial services to increase access to health care. In addition to his project work on health financing for SHOPS and PATHS2, Thierry is the founder and co-director of Abt’s Risk and Resilience Methods Center, and was named an Abt Senior Fellow last year. Thierry has been capably performing the duties of Acting DDVP -Technical since January. Before joining Abt, Thierry was Associate Vice President for Economic Opportunities and Senior Director of Livelihoods Innovation at Save the Children, and the Director of the Enterprise Development Group at the IRIS Center at the University of Maryland (where he also earned his doctorate in Economics.) Thierry also currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at American University, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in inclusive finance.
