Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Graham Teskey as  Principal Technical Lead – Governance with Abt JTA. While based in Abt JTA’s new Canberra office, Graham will serve as a global resource on governance aspects of international development. Graham will play a leadership role in building and supporting the company’s global practice in Governance;  he will lead or support engagement with major development clients; and he will build Abt’s thought leadership and reputational capital in Governance.

Graham has been Principal Sector Specialist for Governance since 2012 with the Australian  Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT). In that role, he was responsible for advising DFAT on all matters relating to governance and public sector management on the Australian aid program. Prior to that, Graham was Senior Adviser in Governance at the World Bank in Washington, where he was Head of the Governance and Anti-Corruption Secretariat, and was responsible for the preparation and drafting of the Banks 2012 Governance and Anti- Corruption Strategy. Before joining the World Bank in 2009, he spent 15 years with the DFID, with postings to Fiji, Kenya and Uganda. In 1996 he helped establish the first Governance group in DFID. His last two DFID posts were Head of Africa Policy Department and Head of Governance and Social Development. Graham was one of the lead contributors to the UK’s 2006 Development White Paper entitled Making Governance work for the Poor. He spent the first six years of his career working as an economist in the Central Planning Office in Fiji and then in the National Planning and Statistics Office in Vanuatu. This was followed by spells in Tanzania with NORAD and teaching development studies at the University of Bradford in the UK. Graham has degrees in economics, planning and business administration. Graham’s CV is attached.

Graham will work across the company to help us build our Governance portfolio. This is an exciting step for Abt  as we continue to broaden our reach, and build our reputation for implementing bold, innovative solutions across a broad range of sectors. It is the first time we have a technical sector lead based in a subsidiary, and is another important step in the journey to build an Abt that is truly global.

Best,

Jay
