CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR

THE  2013 CLARK ABT PRIZE

For Outstanding Social Impact

At Abt Associates

This announcement seeks nominations for the 2013 Clark Abt Prize.  The Clark Abt Prize is given annually to recognize work carried out at Abt Associates, Abt SRBI, or Abt JTA that has had outstanding social impact.  This prize honors Clark Abt and our commitment to Abt’s mission.

The award includes a cash prize of $5,000.  The award will be presented at our Annual Meeting in June.

Nominations must be submitted to Lorraine Murphy in Cambridge by COB Friday, May 3, 2013.

AWARD CRITERIA and PROCESS

All forms of Abt work are eligible for the award, including research, consulting, and technical assistance.  We do not intend to recognize early work in Abt’s history, thus we limit eligibility to work that was completed after January 1, 2003.   Finally, the intent of the Award is to recognize a small number of current employees who made substantial contributions to the project.

A committee representing different divisions will review the eligible projects.  Representatives of the Abt Board of Directors will select the wining project.  Review and selection will be based on the following criteria:

(1) Thoughtful, strategic design and expert execution of the work.

(2) Level and scope of social benefit.

(3) Ability to credibly link social benefits to the nominated work.

HOW TO NOMINATE WORK

If you know of a project that might be eligible or want to nominate your own project, please complete the attached application form and send it to Lorraine Murphy by Friday May 3, 2013.

FURTHER INFORMATION

For more information on the process and criteria, please review the attached description of the Clark Abt Prize, the definition and typology of impact, and the generic logic model.  You can also contact Mark Spranca if you have any questions about the prize.

Thanks,

Mark
