CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR
Abt Senior Fellows
DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL FEBRUARY 13TH
The Fellows Program has been an integral part of Abt Associates since the 1980s. Consistent with our five-year strategy of building reputational capital, the Fellows since FY12 have focused exclusively on external thought leadership activities. Thought leadership includes, but is not limited to:
· publishing in peer-reviewed journals;
· making high-profile presentations;
· presenting to Congress, government officials, and other policy makers in the US and overseas;
· being a resource for, and conducting interviews with, the media;
· publishing Op-Eds
· leveraging social media, and
· leading professional associations.
Ultimately, thought leaders are noticed and cited, influence dialogue and decisions, and effect change.
The Fellows work closely with the businesses to plan and conduct thought leadership activities that build valuable reputational capital. In addition, Fellows serve as role models and mentors for aspiring thought leaders. Finally, Fellows provide regular status reports to company and business leadership and the Board.
We expect to name several new Senior Fellows in March, 2013 to begin on April 1, 2013. In FY14, we expect to provide about 10% time (200 hours) to Fellows. Fellows will serve three-year terms with renewal based on evolution of business needs and Fellow’s performance. Resources permitting, we expect to name additional Fellows in subsequent years.
Application Process
The application is a three-step process initiated by those interested in becoming Fellows:
(1) Discuss your interest with your Division Vice President and ask your DVP to submit a statement of support,
(2) Submit an updated and revised resume highlighting your thought leadership accomplishments, and
(3) Submit an outline of a three-year plan that describes your objectives and activities to build external thought leadership.
Applicants, please submit your resume and plan to Lorraine Murphy by February 13, 2013.
DVPs, please submit your statements of support to Lorraine Murphy by February 13, 2013.
A review committee with strong complementary skills and knowledge consisting of Jay Knott, Mark Spranca, and two members of Abt's Board, Cinnamon Dornsife and Anne-Marie Slaughter, will review applications and make recommendations to Kathleen Flanagan. The review committee will base its recommendations on the applicants' thought leadership experience, potential, and plans, as well as the strategic priorities described in the company's five-year strategy. New Fellows will be announced in early March.
If you have questions about the new Fellows program, please contact Mark Spranca.
