Dear Colleagues,

Abt Associates has just entered its 50th year as a company focused on improving the quality of life and economic well-being of people worldwide.  We are using this opportunity to raise the visibility of our impact and thought leadership.  Our theme is 50 Years of Bold Thinking.   There are so many examples of bold thinking by our staff throughout the company’s history--studies and projects that have shaped policies and programs around the world--and we will soon be posting a timeline of milestones on our website.

To kick off the celebration, we will convene some of the top thought leaders in evaluation for an externally focused event, “New Directions in Social Experiments:  What can U.S. and international evaluators learn from each other?” on March 11 at MIT’s Media Lab in Cambridge.

Speakers include Michael Kremer of Harvard University, Rebecca Maynard of the University of Pennsylvania, Abhijit Banerjee of MIT and Stephen Bell of Abt Associates. David Ellwood, Dean of the Kennedy School of Government, and an Abt board member, will moderate the discussion.  We have invited clients, partners, and other prominent evaluators to the event and  plan to webcast it to U.S.-based staff due timing.  With that in mind, we plan to make highlights available to all staff by posting clips of the discussion on AGI.

We will engage staff and external audiences through various events throughout the year as we commemorate our 50th anniversary. Stay tuned for more information!

Best,

Kathleen
