We know you have been hearing a lot lately about our exciting, new Communications Capacity Building Video Series! Emails have been sent; Jay Knott, Diana Silimperi and Sarah Armstrong hosted a webinar in March (available on both on AGI (see below) and on YouTube at https://youtu.be/x4wUFosWyq8); and Kathleen Flanagan provided information in her CEO Corner on AGI.
Well – the series is done! And ready for you to use. It will be sent to your project office via FTP and is available on AGI at https://abtassoc.sharepoint.com/departments/CorporateCommunications/Pages/Field-Communications-Resources.aspx
As a reminder, this is a series of video modules that complements the information you received in the "Passport to Powerful Communications: Visibility for Abt’s Real-World Impact."
There are ten modules in the series – ten individual components that can be watched all together; in a group of two, three or four … or even one at a time. They range in length from about three to eight minutes each. The series will teach you about
• Developing a Communications Plan
• Developing communications Objectives
• Determining Target Audiences
• Creating Key Messages and supporting Proof Points
• Working with Creative Services at the home office
• Producing Materials including brochures and success stories
• Taking Great Photographs
• Understanding the Media and Presenting Your Ideas
• And we conclude the series with a review of Internal Communications.
Why is communications so important?
• Our donors are increasingly asking us to provide information on the outcomes and impact of our projects. They want to be able to demonstrate the value of their investment towards meeting the needs of poor and vulnerable populations.
• We work in a competitive environment and must communicate clearly and effectively in order to build relationships that will lead to increased donor support.
• Finally, communications is a prerequisite for growth because it creates new opportunities for both your project and the organization as a whole to scale up and also begin new programs that will benefit the communities we serve.
And that’s why everyone has to be a communicator.
Please let us know what you think of the series. At any time, please contact Sarah Armstrong with comments: sarah_armstrong@abtassoc.com.
And thank you all for being great Abt Ambassadors!
