Colleagues,
On rare occasions, it may be necessary to close one or more domestic offices due to severe inclement weather or other emergency situations. As part of our Business Continuity Management Program, we've implemented a number of strategies for communicating emergency office closings.
If a decision has been made to either close an office for the day or delay the start of regular business hours, a message will be communicated to staff by 7:00 a.m. via each of the following channels:
• The Abt Hotline, 1-855-ABT-6373: Dial 1-855-ABT-6373 to listen to closing/delayed openings updates.
• EMAIL: You will receive an email with specific information on closings/delayed openings by 7:00 a.m.
• TEXT: You can subscribe to receive text message updates on closings/delayed openings. Visit the Emergency Communications page on AGI (located under RESOURCES in the footer of the AGI homepage)
· To subscribe, enter your mobile phone number in the form field at the top of the box and click the "JOIN NOW" button.
· (TIP: Save the text number 716-803-5682 as ABT ALERTS in your phone contact list.)
Please note: all applicable texting fees are the responsibility of the employee unless the cell service is provided by Abt Associates.
If you do not receive a text and/or e-mail update by 7:00 a.m., assume that the office will be open for business as usual. The channels listed above will be utilized ONLY in the event of an office closing or delayed opening.
If it becomes necessary to close an office during the business day, staff will receive instructions via e-mail, text, or our in-house paging system.
Inclement Weather
When severe inclement weather is forecast for the following work day causing commuting to be difficult, staff members should make arrangements with their managers (as appropriate) to work from home if it becomes necessary.
Cambridge Parking Instructions in Inclement Weather
During severe inclement weather, especially snowstorms please take care when parking your vehicle to park close to the next vehicle. This helps to maximize available parking spaces.
In order to allow for faster and more complete snow removal, vehicles should not be left in the parking lot overnight when snowfall is forecast. If extended business travel is planned during the winter months, please contact Tom Murdock at x 2892 to review the parking arrangements for your vehicle.
You may also review our office closings process on AGI under the Emergency Procedures section within the Departments > Corporate Services tab.
Regards, Al
