EAC Quarterly Update
July 2014
FY15 CEO Town Hall
In anticipation of Kathleen’s FY15 CEO Town Hall, the EAC worked with the MAG to solicit staff input on topics that staff wanted Kathleen to cover in her presentation. We received an overwhelming response and thank everyone who took the time to write in their suggestions. Kathleen addressed many suggested topics including concerns about work space in Bethesda, the telecommuting policy, and changes in Abt’s overhead and IT rates.
Game Nights
The EAC hosted “Are You Game?” in Cambridge in June. This was a pilot event in response to a suggestion that the EAC organize more social opportunities for colleagues to interact. The EAC is encouraged by the success of this event and will host a similar gathering in Bethesda to show the World Cup semi-final match on July 9. If your office is interested in hosting a game night for your local staff, please contact the EAC.
Birthday Cards for International Staff
In response to employee feedback, the EAC worked with HR to implement a process for sending birthday cards to international staff, similar to the recognition of U.S. staff birthdays. The first batch of birthday cards for May and June birthdays went out to 225 employees across 54 sites in late May.
Meet & Greet with Brian Roemer
Thanks to our General Counsel and his staff for presenting at a Meet & Greet in Bethesda on June 24. The Cambridge event will be rescheduled soon. Brian’s slides will be available on AGI after the Cambridge event.
Advancing Important Issues
The EAC continued to execute the 2014 Work Plan. This quarter we helped manage space concerns in the Durham office; met with the Project Management Solutions Team to discuss workflow and labor planning; gathered information from Division and Department leaders on how funds are allocated to attend conferences; discussed telecommuting policies with HR and DVPs; learned from HR advisors at Aon Hewitt about our how our benefits compare to other employers in the US markets; and provided feedback to HR around the office space consolidation in Bethesda and helped plan the Cambridge picnic.
The EAC is excited about the new Peer-2-Peer Knowledge Sharing Network!
This quarter marked the creation of the Peer-2-Peer Knowledge Sharing Network by the Office of Reputational Capital. The EAC is excited about this opportunity for all staff – especially junior staff – to share skills and expertise across the organization. We hope many staff will benefit from this new Professional Development opportunity!
Remember, we are here to connect, represent and support you. Please bring any questions or suggestions to the EAC’s attention by e-mailing us or stopping by the office of your local representative!
Thank you,
- Your EAC
