Private Health Sector Insights - June 2015

On June 16, 2015, the SHOPS project hosted its end-of-project event, which highlighted project accomplishments and lessons learned from private sector programs in family planning and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS, and maternal and child health. More than 200 participants, in-person and online, examined trends and achievements in private sector health through interactive panel discussions, presentations, and a project expo which featured SHOPS tools and country programs. Speakers included representatives from USAID, and SHOPS field staff and technical experts who presented insights and findings from over five years of SHOPS work to increase access to and use of priority health information, products, and services through the private sector.

The SHOPS project is USAID's flagship initiative in private sector health. It works to involve nongovernmental organizations and for-profit entities in addressing the many health needs of people in developing countries. The project focuses on increasing availability, improving quality, and expanding coverage of essential health products and services in family planning and reproductive health, maternal and child health, and HIV and AIDS prevention and care through the private sector.
