Private Health Sector Insights - March 2015

 

 

 

 

On World Tuberculosis Day, the SHOPS project highlights its Tuberculosis Care and Support Initiative in India. The project works with the public and private health sectors to ensure access to treatment for tuberculosis (TB) patients. SHOPS builds the capacity of private providers to provide quality care, and instituted a careline to provide treatment information and monitor treatment adherence. On March 10, 2015, the SHOPS project presented the lessons learned from its initiative. More than 80 delegates attended the event

The SHOPS project is USAID's flagship initiative in private sector health. It works to involve nongovernmental organizations and for-profit entities in addressing the many health needs of people in developing countries. The project focuses on increasing availability, improving quality, and expanding coverage of essential health products and services in family planning and reproductive health, maternal and child health, and HIV and AIDS prevention and care through the private sector.
