Greetings.

Today is World Water Monitoring Day, an especially appropriate time to inform you of an outcome of one of our Global Priority Bids.  You will recall that Global Priority Bids are opportunities identified by each Division or Subsidiary as being of greatest strategic importance to our company.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded Abt another five-year contract to provide economic, environmental and regulatory analytical and evaluation support for clean water regulations.

Under the scope of this recompete contract, Abt will offer high-quality economic, environmental assessment, and regulatory support to the Effluent Limitations Guidelines program, the Office of Water, and other EPA programs. Our work entails providing sophisticated economic and environmental modeling capabilities and expertise in economic impact, financial analysis, and market- and non-market valuation methods, all within aggressive regulatory schedules. Abt’s Environment and Resources Division (ERD) has been providing these services to the Office of Water for more than 25 years.

This contract is for one base and four option years with a maximum potential value of $27.6 million. According to Mike Fisher, vice president and leader of ERD’s Water Quality and Climate Change practice, “this contract not only supports work primarily in the Office of Water, Engineering and Analysis Division, but also throughout the Office of Water and all other EPA programs when there is water-related business content. In the past year, over 50 ERD staff have worked on the current contract. This award is very important overall for ERD’s business, and is an important strategic win for the entire company.”  Work performed under this contract falls in the Environment market segment of Abt’s portfolio strategy, which is in the Sustain investment quadrant.

The experience and expertise developed under this contract vehicle have already been useful in expanding Abt’s international work, adding the capability to estimate the value of eco-system services into the International Economic Growth (IEG) Division’s service set.  In addition, work under this contract will continue to offer many opportunities to expand Abt’s global reputational capital, having supported a significant number of publications and presentations in the past.

Congratulations to the entire proposal team led by Mike Fisher, Technical Lead. Other key staff who contributed to Abt’s winning proposal effort included Isabelle Morin, who provided technical oversight of the technical proposal and Tatiana Melnikova, who led the business proposal volume. Paulette Gillard was the lead pricer and Matt Allain served as Proposal Manager.

Best Regards,

Jay
