Dear colleagues:
Last week I attended a workshop of moderators of the Communities of Practices (CoPs) associated with the Harmonization for Health in Africa (HHA) Initiative. HHA is a collaborative initiative by AfDB, JICA, NORAD, UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF, USAID, WHO and WB to provide regional support to governments in Africa in strengthening their health systems. Eight CoPs sponsored by HHA serve as the main communication channels on technical issues between several hundreds of African experts—as far as I know, this is one of the largest South-South fora for technical exchanges around health issues. The eight CoPs work around the following areas: HRH, Pharmaceuticals, RBF, Evidence-Based Planning and Budgeting, Financial Access, Service Delivery, Governance, and Infrastructure/ICT—please see this link to learn more about the CoPs and, if you are interested, to join one (or several) of them. The quality of the content and the frequency of the interactions vary between CoPs, but I have found the Financial Access CoP to be a great window into some of what our African colleagues are working on in that area, as well as a great networking resource across many countries. I hope this resource can be useful in your own work too.
