Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce another important win for the company.

The U.S. Agency for International Development has awarded Abt Associates a partial re-compete contract to increase regional trade competitiveness, increase food security, and reduce poverty. Under the Trade Hub, Abt will promote broader, more sustainable growth by improving both private sector capacity and the policies, rules and practices that govern regional and external trade.

Abt will increase trade, jobs, and investment by strengthening value chains, assisting associations to become more effective and inclusive, improving the enabling environment for trade, and mounting a cross-cutting effort to increase professionalization of all major participants by providing role-specific competency training, facilitating access to modern technologies, and improving market linkages.

This contract, beginning on March 17, is valued at $48.6 M for three years and two option years. Working with Abt are four U.S. small businesses (Banyan Global, JE Austin, SSG Advisors and Kanava International) as well as local partners ISSER (Ghana), Performances Management Consulting (Senegal) and Catek Groupe (Mali). The contract falls in the Food Security market segment of Abt’s portfolio strategy, which is in the sustain investment quadrant.

“Most of our team will be based in Ghana, but will work with a network of public and private partners throughout the region,” said Constantin Abarbieritei, DVP for Abt’s International Economic Growth division. “The team’s close and creative collaboration with partners will help us reach our ambitious goals and develop systemic change in this complex and challenging region. We are very pleased that Abt has been selected to lead the implementation of this work.”

This proposal was originally submitted in November 2012. The contract was awarded to Abt in September 2013 and protested three weeks later. Proposals were then resubmitted in December 2013 and recently USAID once again judged Abt’s bid as providing best value. Congratulations to the entire proposal team led by Technical Leads: Carol Adoum, Ed Keturakis and John Lamb, Proposal Managers: Sally Cameron (2nd submission), Patricia Costa (Initial submission), and Lead Pricer: Sarah Mintah.

Best Regards,

Jay
