Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Abt has been awarded a two-year contract for nearly 1 million dollars as the Evaluation Partner for the Healthy Heart Africa Programme in Kenya.

The Healthy Heart Africa Programme aims to promote awareness of associated risk factors and lifestyle modification for hypertension prevention, and to increase rates of screening, diagnosis, treatment and control in Africa in a sustainable way. The Programme is an initiative of AstraZeneca U.K., a global research-based biopharmaceutical company; it is being launched in Kenya, with plans to expand in geographic scope in the coming years.  In Kenya, AstraZeneca has funded several partners to implement pilot projects to carry out these activities.  Abt’s role will be to design an evaluation framework and carry out monitoring and evaluation of the project as a whole, to inform AstraZeneca’s strategy to replicate the Healthy Heart Programme.

The AstraZeneca win builds on Abt’s new business in the international NCD and evaluation space in a high-priority country with a new client.

As always, it takes a small village to make these wins possible and congratulations go out to: Martha Benezet, Sarah Feinstein, Douglas Johnson, Slavea Chankova, Jim Setzer, Martin Osumba, Jean Margaritas, Katherine Brouhard, Julie Doherty, Lara Hensley, Minki Chatterjee, Ted Hammett, Deborah Klein Walker, Sean Owen, Joe Contini, Tim Irgens, Margarita Fernandez, Mark McEuen, Miyanda Hanson, Krista Pages, Jonathan Angerer, Pat Poulton and Elizabeth Macgregor-Skinner.

Please congratulate the combined IHD-USH  team on this exciting win!
