Dear Colleagues,
What is happening?
Here at Abt, we have recently identified a number of email phishing incidents and expect more will occur over the next few weeks. In addition, the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued warnings concerning threats posed by the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) against U.S. targets. The SEA has already attempted to disrupt operations at The New York Times, The Washington Post and even Twitter.
What is “phishing?”
Phishing refers to the act of contacting a targeted individual and falsely claiming to represent a legitimate entity in an attempt to gain private or sensitive information. Phishing emails may contain malicious software or links to websites.
What do I need to do?
Be vigilant. If you receive an email or text communication that you suspect may not be legitimate:
· DO NOT reply to the message/text.
· DO NOT click on links sent in the message/text.
· DO NOT open any attachments.
· DO contact the IT Service Center and report it. They can be reached at:
Extension: 4357 (HELP)
