The global community will observe World AIDS Day 2013 on December 1. This year’s theme is “Getting to Zero”: zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination, and zero AIDS-related deaths.
Next Tuesday, December 3rd, please join your colleagues around the world as we observe World AIDS Day 2013. We are pleased to have Dr. Joseph O’Neill, former Director of the White House Office of National AIDS Policy, join us as our keynote speaker. Abt discussants are: Dr. Carlos Avila, Dr. Liza Solomon, and Dr. Jane Thomason, CEO, Abt JTA.

For nearly three decades, Abt Associates has delivered rigorous research findings, bold, original thinking, effective interventions, and systematic program evaluations to improve the wellbeing of people living with HIV and AIDS. Abt’s range of responses to the epidemic covers a broad spectrum of activities, including:
- Identifying and locating previously undiagnosed HIV-positive men who have sex with men and getting them tested and into care;
- Reviewing HIV treatment coverage provided by private health insurance programs in sub-Saharan Africa;
- Linking people in U.S. jails to medical care and ancillary services in their communities;
- Abt subsidiary Abt JTA’s HIV and AIDS community outreach in remote Papua New Guinea; and
- Efforts by the Quality Health Care Project for Central Asia to strengthen services for HIV and other public health threats.
We look forward to gathering as One Global Abt to recognize how Abt is working to achieve the goal of “Getting to Zero” and how we can continue to contribute in innovative ways given the latest global trends in HIV/AIDS.
