Dear Colleagues,

The Office of Reputational Capital and Technical Leadership is delighted to announce that Dr. Minki Chatterji has agreed to serve as Co-Director of the Evaluation and Monitoring Methods Center.  Jacob Klerman is the other Co-Director.

Trained as a demographer, Dr. Chatterji is a Principal Associate in IHD, where she has built the research component of SHOPS, the USAID-funded Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector project,  into a robust effort with multiple presentations, reports and journal articles.  This year, Dr. Chatterji was named co-recipient of the Best Scholarly Article Award.

Dr. Chatterji’s efforts span a range of evaluation and monitoring activities throughout IHD.  In addition, Dr. Chatterji serves as Co-Chair of the Journal Authors Support Group (JASG) and on the selection committee for the Daniel McGillis Development and Dissemination (D&D) Support Grants. Prior to coming to Abt in 2011, Dr. Chatterji worked at Mathematica Policy Research, the Futures Group, and USAID/Washington.

The Evaluation and Monitoring Methods Center was formerly known as the Monitoring and Evaluation Methods Center.  The new name (1) distinguishes more clearly the methods of evaluation from those of monitoring, (2) avoids the confusing M&E term, which has come to mean mostly monitoring in the international development community, and (3) indicates the increasing strategic importance of our evaluation work both in the US and internationally.  For more information on the Evaluation and Monitoring Methods Center see here.

Thanks,

Mark
