Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Abt Associates,  as a sub to FHI 360 on the Cross-Border Health Integrated Partnership Project (CB HIPP), will participate in the implementation of this five-year initiative designed to extend integrated health services in border areas and along select inland transport corridor sites in East, Central and Southern Africa. The project is funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

CB-HIPP, led by FHI360, is a Leader with Associate Award with a project ceiling of $74 million, $12 million for the Leader Award and up to $62 million for the Associate Awards.  Abt Associates has an approximate budget of $1,750,000 for the Leader award.  Additional funds will be determined by the associate awards.  Other partners who will collaborate on this project ,in addition to Abt Associates, are  the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP), the African Network for Strategic Communication in Health and Development (AfriComNet), DAI, the Federation of East African Freight Forwarding Associations (FEAFFA), Howard University, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Medic Mobile, the National Organization of Peer Educators (NOPE), North Star Alliance (NSA), and PATH.

Under CB-HIPP, we s will lead the program to identify and implement alternative health financing models to strengthen the long-term sustainability of networked health and HIV/AIDS service delivery and work closely with the private sector, including health insurance and financial services providers, as well as workers associations, such as the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union of Uganda and the Kenya Long Distance Truck Drivers and Allied Workers Union.

I would like to thank the following people for their input into this work – Ted Hammett, Josef Tayag, Katherine Brouhard, Charity Ngaruro, Phuong Chau and Catherine Thompson, who will serve at the PM.    Please congratulate this team on this exciting win!
