Women and children in Africa are still disproportionally dying of malaria. A child in Africa dies every minute from malaria — more than 1,000 every day, according to the World Health Organization.
Abt Associates – as a leader of the President’s Malaria Initiative Africa Indoor Residual Spraying (PMI AIRS) project and a member of the Roll Back Malaria working groups for Malaria in Pregnancy and for Vector Control – helps to reduce malaria transmission and support better malaria policy. Abt also helps to provide insight into the impact of malaria interventions on health systems through the Health Finance and Governance project.
Since 2011, PMI AIRS has protected more than 37 million people from malaria. PMI AIRS is also engaging women and local communities in the work, as well as using technology to improve the project’s efficiency.
