Dear colleagues,

As you may know, the International Health Division is organized around five technical segments and three cross-cutting technical working groups, listed below. Each of these groups is tasked with organizing technical support to projects, supporting new business development, and generating reputational capital.  The main channel through which these groups engage colleagues in these three activities is their respective Community of Excellence (CoE), which are basically groups of IHD staffers interested in the same topic.

CoEs provide a platform for these groups to share articles, project news, opportunities, and events with interested staff via a listserv—and they will increasingly serve as the conduit for any technical information from IHD management. So we want to make sure that all IHD colleagues—especially those of us in the field—have an opportunity to join the CoEs.

The Technical Segments are:

·         Health Systems Strengthening (Subtopics: eHealth, Governance, Health Finance and Economics, Human Resources for Health)

·         Infectious Diseases (Subtopics: HIV, TB, Malaria)

·         Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health

·         Family Planning/Reproductive Health

·         Chronic Diseases

The Cross-Cutting Technical Working Groups are:

·         Behavior Change Communication

·         Service Delivery

·         Private Sector

Many of you are already members of one or more CoEs.  If, however, you work in any of the areas listed above but haven’t yet joined its CoE, we hope that you will consider doing so.  Please email Elizabeth, cc’ed here, indicating which CoE(s) you would like to join, and she will make sure your name is added to the respective list(s).  If you are interested in any of the subtopics under the HSS and ID Tech Segments, please indicate this as well, and you will also be added to these lists (and to the relevant Segment list if you’re not already on it).
