Dear all,

Yes, it’s MMMM (Marty Makinen’s March Madness) time!

The rules are simple, you need not be a sports fan or know anything about basketball – your path to fame and fortune begins with only $5 and a few minutes with a lucky pen or pencil.  Last year’s pool exceeded $1000 (so we’re serious when we say fortune)...  And the fame lasts as long as you milk it – for example, let me pls mention that I am still the only two-time winner ever!!

All entries are due Thurs Mar 19 by noon EST, so plan meetings accordingly!

Pls submit money and a printed entry to me in 5074 (outside the Potomac Room.)   I am also looking to recruit someone on the second floor to accept entries, pls contact me if you would like to help with this.

Good luck!

Grace

Basketball Fans:

Out annual festival of hoops is upon us.  The 68-team field has been selected and placed in the brackets.

Your participation in the tournament can now begin in earnest.  See in the attached files the rules, instructions for making your entry (by noon EST Thursday, March 19), and a printable set of brackets.

Can any team challenge Kentucky?  What will the upsets be?  Will Shubha Jayaram repeat as pool winner?  Will Grace Chee find her form again and get her third asterisk (past winners of the MM Pool get an asterisk next to their names in the pool standings)?  Will any other past winner join Grace in having a two-asterisk notation?  Will there be a new winner to add to the annals of the MM Pool?  Let's all find out over the next few weeks!
