Dear Colleagues,
As many of you know, I re-joined Abt Associates in August 2012. Since that time, my role as Chief Human Resources and Ethics Officer has focused on making Human Resources an organization that supports the strategy and mission of Abt Associates and enhances the employment experience of all our staff. In support of that goal, we made some initial adjustments approximately a year ago to improve client-focused services and overall teamwork. We shifted reporting structures, established an HR Service Center, and expanded professional development and information system capabilities. While these changes brought improvements, we have seen the need for further enhancements to better support our employees worldwide, advance the strategic initiatives of our organization, and realize the opportunities of a dynamic global marketplace. Therefore, we are currently in the process of making additional changes within our HR organization.
These changes will allow us to:
- structure the department in the most optimal way to help you win work, serve our clients and develop as professionals.
- allocate resources to more effectively support our global colleagues, including the addition of internationally based HR Generalists;
- expand our recruiting function to align with our strategic business needs;
- establish a more collaborative business partnership with our clients by bringing together our business partner operations; and
- integrate data analytics and technology into our HR service delivery.
As a result of these changes, several new positions are being created, and four were eliminated. These decisions are always difficult, as they affect people we like and respect. We appreciate the work and service of the employees being transitioned, and each of them was provided transitional support as they move forward. As we navigate this change in HR, please reach out to the following people if you need assistance:

Since my return to Abt, I have been struck by the overwhelming commitment of our employees to our clients and to each other around the world. I believe that HR will continue to advance its goal of increasing service to all people of Abt Associates, no matter where you reside.
