The HFG-Ghana country team is currently in the process of designing its YR2 work program. As part of our program, we have be asked to support the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in implementing system improvements in the area of health insurance claims processing. We are actively looking for colleagues with specific experience in this area.  Given the number of countries developing or enhancing their health insurance schemes, not just in Ghana it, would be great to identify individuals with such expertise.  

 

To provide some background on the specific area of work:

 

In 2012, the NHIS received 25 million claims, and district schemes are overwhelmed with the volumes of claims to process. HFG-Ghana has been asked to:

8  Provide  technical support to the NHIA as it establishes and builds the capacity and responsibilities of the three zonal claims processing centers outside of Accra. 

8  Support the NHIA to pilot claims digitization for the Volta Region and to analyze the lessons learned from that pilot.

8  Work with USAID/Ghana’s “Systems for Health” project to identify and support providers to participate in the NHIA’s web-based e-claim system through training and supportive
